WITHDRAWN - A WWII And Later Set of Four Medals, comprising General Service Medal with Palestine Bar, War Medal 1949-45 Star, Africa Star to 4534466 Gnr W.T Copping, Royal Artillery, with issue slip.

*Records indicate Wilfred Thomas Copping was a prisoner of war after being captured in The Western Dessert and then held in Stalag 4C in Czechoslovakia.

WITHDRAWN - A WWI Casualty Medal Pair, comprising War Medal and Victory Medal to 33978 Pte A.Medd, West Yorkshires

*Records indicate Arthur Medd of The 15th Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment (Leeds Pals) was killed on 3rd May 1917 at Arras, he is remembered at The Arras Memorial.

Lot 305
A Victorian Medal Duo, comprising South Africa Medal with 1879 bar and Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. Also hung as worn a Self Awarded Indian General Service Medal with Burma 1885-7 bar to 2590 G. Turner, Quarter Master - Sergeant Royal Scots Fusiliers. The lot also includes a South Africa 1879 miniature, original service book, four named swagger sticks, a company shooting medal in case which Sergeant Turner won three times, additional facsimile records and photographs. Worthy of fullest inspection.

*Records indicate that George Richard Turner from Leeds, joined the 2/11 Foot in 1871 at the age of 18, serving a total of twenty-one years of which over twelve were spent abroad. Turner saw action in both South Africa in 1879 and later in Burma where he was involved in quelling the Rebellion. He finished his career in 1892 with the rank of Quartermaster- Sergeant. In peace time Mr Turner worked for The Sheffield Board of Guardians for thirty years and became 'The Tyler' at ten Masonic lodges.

A Quantity of Items (Excluding Medals) Relating th 2910 Pte A. Robinson, F. Coy 1st Royal Scots, items include photographs, letters home, a 'recovered' bullet amongst other items.

*Records indicate that Alexander Robinson from Kirkcaldy was born in 1870 and served with the 1st Royal Scots in South Africa, from where a number of letters in the lot were written. He died on 15th July 1901 on his return to Scotland.

Lot 308
A WWI and Later Group of Eight Medals, comprising Polish Cross of Valour, 1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star, Africa Star, Burma Star, Italy Star, War Medal with MID Oak Leaf and Queen Elizabeth Coronation Medal to C/JX143015 Signalman W. Thompson, Royal Navy. The lot also includes ribbon bars, a letter of congratulations form William Whiteley, Labour Chief Whip, dated 16/12/1941, a letter of gratitude from The Head of the Polish Navy, dated 1/9/1941, and an etched cigarette case from The United Services Club, in recognition of the awarding of The Polish Cross of Valour. N.B: Royal Navy Long Service Medal missing. A lot worthy of the fullest inspection.

*Signalman Wilfred Thompson was abroad H.M.S. Firedrake during operations in Norway, especially Narvik in the summer of 1941. He was awarded The Polish Cross of Honour in respect of 'His Gallant and Brave Conduct During Operations with the Polish Brigade in Norway'.
