Michael Dowse has over 45 years experience and in his professional life collaborates with Private Client departments of solicitors throughout Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and further afield. He is passionate about the personal approach to his work.
A typical probate instruction can involve meeting with solicitors, paralegals, executors, beneficiaries and family members.
Negotiations with family can be as local as the next street or as far away as Australia or New Zealand. Safe storage and distribution of assets, family division assistance and sensible sales advice are paramount in the efficient delivery of every probate matter.
Michael’s valuations are compliant with section 160 of the 1984 Inheritance Act and are always undertaken with the care and compassion deserving of the situation, even when the matter is contentious.

Alison Gillatt joined Phillips Auctioneers in 1979, (later becoming Bonhams). She ran the European and Oriental Ceramics and Decorative Arts Department for the north of England until 2007 when the Leeds saleroom closed and she continued at Bonhams Leeds valuation office in a similar role. Alison joined Sheffield Auction Gallery in 2016 and covers all disciplines. Appraising a wide variety of objects for auction and carrying out written insurance and probate valuations, she is very well known and respected by professional and private clients within the West Riding of Yorkshire and beyond.
Since 2003 she has worked as an off-screen valuer on a number of television programmes including BBC's "Flog It!" and "Make me a Dealer".
As a very experienced member of our professional team, Alison's focus is on expanding our base within the West Riding of Yorkshire.
